If It Aint Broke, Dont Fix It

By Laurie

Humor me and take a minute to look at (name of my school), as a fine-tuned, well-oiled machine. Its a machine that produces exactly as it should. Everything is run smoothly and in harmony. Weve developed a system here that works. What should be done with this machine? Should it be taken apart and spread all over the lawn? You and I both know that if it ever does get put back together, it wont be the same. Chances are, it wont get put back together at all. People will pass by and remember what it a fine machine it used to be. They will reminisce about what potential this machine had to continue on its path to success. This is not what should happen to a perfect machine. Instead, this machine should be analyzed, and replicated. People from all over the world should come and watch this machine at work. Then they should go and build a machine just like it. If this is done correctly and repeated enough times, soon the district will be over run with fine-tuned, well-oiled machines. Our machine is built with love, trust, dedication, hard work and perseverance. You cant take it apart and expect it to work the same.

Perhaps I should take away the machine analogy for a minute here to remind the reader that we are not machines at all. We are human beings with hearts. There is more to us than what a computer print out will tell you. Come and observe us. Nothing we have is secret. We will share everything so that you can make as many schools like us as you want. We are here at () because we love the school, the children and the staff. If you take it away from usany piece of it, we will never be the same. Ever.
